Selling to Break-even

Nabeel. The other day I had an opportunity to interact with an official from a resort development company. During our short chat we discussed diverse topics related to Maldives Tourism and its outlook. As per the conversation I learned that they are about to re-open a resort and operate it very soon.

The one thing that struck in mind was their strategy as he mentioned “we are just selling to break-even”. I was shocked of course but later as we talked more he went on to say that this strategy is because they are trying to lease the resort to a different party under a management contract.

Perhaps this is a fare conclusion, but my question is: “Is it worth selling to break-even or is it better to put a little extra effort and sell to make some profit so all the stakeholders will have something to celebrate”.

When you get get a .10c on every $1 earned I don’t believe its something to celebrate.

By allowing these bla bla bid winners to enter in to such transactions with foreign parties I believe the government is in breach of their own cotracts. what good then would it bring….

all in the name of foreign investments. now think about what benifit you or your country has got from this so called foreign investments……
