Here I am again, writing some comments on the MTPB Marketing Workshop held earlier this month.
Today, I am going to write something about the first point of discussion;
1. New ideas to market the destination.
I think and hope you will agree that there should be always new ideas to promote a destination or anything for that matter. When I look at the Maldives and the context of this discussion point I want to straightway say; MTPB needs to be more strategic in their approach to market Maldives as a tourist destination.
A Promotion Board of my choice would start with some basics as follows;
- Be able to define the Concept and Brand of the “Maldives”
- Work as Brand Police and work with industry to establish brand “Maldives”
- Have a fair balance of future and present marketing of the destination
- Have in-depth knowledge of the Product/s available in the market
- Be able to integrate the destination branding together with Nation Branding
- Have a marketing delivery handbook ready for industry officials/executives
Plus many more….depending on the requirements of the industry etc..
