Economy is Business

mr-tokyo-029.jpgFinally the airline industry has realized that economy is business. I was recently on Airbus A380 from Tokyo to Singapore, on my way from Japan after attending JATA and some other business meetings.

Economy cabin in Airbus A380 looks and feels like business class cabin – innovatively designed with different colors in different sections – with cooler green and blue coloring contrasts with a beige / orange cozy, creating a warmer cabin area. The seats are bigger than the normal economy seats if not same as normal business seats. You have enough personal space even if the passenger in front reclines.

The high resolution personal entertainment screen is 10.6 inch, the largest in its class. The seatback-mounted handset with QWERTY keyboard and the USB port allows you to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations. The in-seat power supply, data line and the suite/jacket hanger are just some of the many intelligent touches designed with the business traveler in mind.

The flight from Tokyo to Singapore is about seven hours but the new Singapore Airlines A380 Economy Class makes you feel comfortable in your personal console, and almost makes you feel like a working home. If one thing needs to be improved, I would pick up on few more updated news options and more international news papers.

That was my short experience in the new Airbus and I am happy to fly in Economy Class anytime to save some money for the company – knowing that when business is good, economy is good, and when economy is good, my life is good.

Economy is Business as Business creates an Economy!
