Nabeel Abdulla
Nabeel has served as Sales and Marketing for Luxury Top-tier Resorts, with over 12 years of experience in Tourism Marketing, Revenue Management and Strategic Business Development roles. Known by almost everyone in the wider circle of Maldivian tourism and a friend of all the marketers in the industry, Nabeel is often tipped in the industry as the best marketing professional in the country.
He usually speaks his mind, he is well informed, fun and highly talented. He also believes he is kept ‘alive by his relationships’. This is the charismatic Nabeel Abdulla known as the marketing smarts in Maldivian tourism.
Having worked with leading luxury resort companies Six Senses for Soneva Fushi and Soneva Gili and Per AQUUM for Huvafen Fushi, Nabeel was often viewed sceptically by industry professionals with his calculative and target oriented sales and marketing strategies. But he showed them otherwise when the multi-award winning retreat, Huvafen Fushi hit 80% in occupancy at an average of $1000 per room per night for 15 consecutive months trailblazing the luxury market in the Maldives leaving the competition in his dust.
After years of island living, bright city lights made Nabeel to choose an opportunity to use his knowledge and skills in the highly anticipated opening of the capital’s first international hotel. After successful launch of the InterContinental Hotel Gorups’ fist hotel in the Maldives (which later became Traders Hotel) Nabeel moved on to where his heart really belonged.
Nabeel was consequently head hunted to open the flagship resort of Anantara Group, the Anantara Kihavah Villas Maldives in Baa Atoll. With his ability to connect with key drivers and influencers in the industry Nabeel immediately started mapping Anantara Kihavah Villas in the top-tier market segment around the globe. Nabeel managed to set up contracts with key Russian Tour Operators, earned the trust of Local DMCs, honored the Middle East market, charmed the UK partners, fortified the German operators, got the attention of Asian Tour Operators to be among the top sellers of this fabulous five start deluxe resort as it opened it’s doors in February 2011. The first opening months surpassed all targets drawn and maintains to attract a positive growth.
If asked what is behind his success story, Nabeel always insists he gains his strength through his global network of professional friends and acquaintances.
